Special Guest: TV/Movie Star Kathy Garver
Kathy Garver is most famous for playing Cissy Davis on “Family Affair” (1966–1971): This was her signature role, playing the older sister to Jody and Buffy, and niece to Uncle Bill in the beloved television family alongside Brian Keith and Sebastian Cabot.
Kathy Garver’s most famous career events include:
- Appearing in The Ten Commandments (1956): As a young child actor, she was personally cast by director Cecil B. DeMille to play a young slave girl named Rachel in the epic film.
- Voicing Firestar in Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends (1981–1983): She became a familiar Saturday-morning cartoon voice portraying the mutant superhero Angelica Jones (Firestar).
- Voice Acting and Audiobooks: She voiced characters in other animated series like Chuck Norris: Karate Kommandos (as Pepper) and recorded over 80 audiobooks, earning a Grammy nomination for narrating Elvis, Rocky and Me: The Carol Connors Story.
- Writing Books: She authored several books, including her memoir Surviving Cissy: My Family Affair of Life in Hollywood and X-Child Stars: Where Are They Now. [1, 2]
- Current Commercial: She’s on the ClearCaptions commercial– a captioned telephone service designed for people with hearing loss, allowing users to read what a caller is saying live on a display.
